8/20/2015 'Contemporary British Horror Cinema' to launch at Abertoir Horror Film Festival to commemorate 10th anniversary of Neil Marshall's 'The Descent'Read NowOn the 13th November, at the Abertoir Horror Film Festival, my book Contemporary British Horror Cinema will be officially launched. The launch coincides with the festival's screening of Neil Marshall's The Descent, which will commemorate the film's 10th anniversary. I will also be giving a public lecture entitled 'The Descent and the new British horror film'. More news to follow.
Until then, here's what Professor Julian Petley had to say about the book: "The twenty-first century has seen the highly welcome rebirth of the British horror film, but it has long awaited a really substantial work which not only guides the reader through the truly remarkable number of horror films which have been produced since the turn of the millennium but also explains all the various factors - cultural, technological, industrial, economic - which have made this renaissance possible. Johnny Walker has now written that work, and anybody interested in the horror film, and indeed in British cinema, owes him a huge debt of gratitude. " (Julian Petley, Brunel University London)
